Cherished Daughters and Revolution Teen Center have joined forces to create a video resource for Moms to survive the pandemic while “Quaranteening.” Cherished Daughters Mentoring Program along with Revolution Teen Center have come together to sit down and chat with area experts on topics currently impacting teens. The CDR video series is an engaging resource for moms of teen girls; however, much of the information applies to teen boys as well.

Sick of hearing?….. oh she’s a teenager that’s how they are she’ll grow out of it. What are you supposed to do until then?

We believe you can do more than just survive your child’s teenage years! We believe you can learn, grow and explore together! We don’t expect you to do it alone. No, it takes a village and we are bringing the village to you.

What if you could learn how to enjoy time with your teen again? You know not just love them but LIKE them?!

    • Healthy communication leads to more quality time with your teen.
    • Understanding the value of money leads to a more grateful child.
    • Explaining the dangers of the world outside your home leads to more acceptance of the boundaries you put in place.

We are sharing a collection of conversations with experts that will help you do just that.

Now all you have to do is:

  1. Watch our videos on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Cherished Daughters Revolution YouTube Page.
  2. Show up to our Cherished Daughters FaceBook Group at 5:30pm after each episode and connect with other parents as well as our committed team.
  3. And ask whatever questions you have.

What a Year!

Hello Friends of Revolution Teen Center!
 
As 2019 closes, we’d like to take a moment to thank each of you and to reflect on all of the wonderful things that we have had the honor to take part in during the year.
 
This year, seventy-eight students and twenty volunteers took part in our activities and programs. We are incredibly thankful for our students and volunteers. What a blessing it has been to be a part of the students’ and volunteers’ lives!
 
Our volunteers and students have had an amazing year enjoying our Friday Night Events. The students really enjoyed Karaoke Open Mic, Game Night, Trivia Night, Bowling, Roller Skating, and the Silent Disco Dance Party. In addition to participating in loads of fun events and programs, our students gave up their time to serve patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta alongside Canvases for a Cause.
 
In July, our Board made the decision to move out of our facility so we could focus on making a greater impact with our Friday Night Events and provide programs at Give Center East. Our partnership with Give has been a great success and Dr. Brandon Bell, Principal of Give Center East, has agreed to allow us to double our time at Give in 2020! TRU Girl Talk was a BIG HIT. We had six dedicated volunteers encouraging thirty young women. The girls had the opportunity to be heard, learn positive communication, and conflict resolution skills. The girls inspired us as we watched them grow!
 
Our Warrior Volunteers also had the honor to share awareness of teen issues and our passion for helping the next generation at our first Ladies Fundraiser, which was held at the Windermere Gold Club on September 25th. The food was fabulous, and Windermere Golf Club served us well!
 
We’d like to give a huge shout out to The Fountain for opening their doors to us! The Fountain has offered their youth facility for some of our Friday Night Events. Thank you, Mike McGuire and Grant Adams for sharing our vision!

In order to extend our reach into the community and ensure our programs are the most impactful they can be quality volunteers are a must have. Would you consider donating your time, knowledge, and experience to encourage a teen in 2020? It’s not too late to make a donation for 2019. Donations must be postmarked by 12/31/19 and online donations must be received by 11:59pm on 12/31/19.

School’s Out For Summer

School’s out for summer and Revolution Teen Center is gearing up to provide some exciting opportunities for our students this summer.

2019 started off great at Revolution. Can we just tell you about our FUN Friday Night events? The students spent time with their friends while having the opportunity to do fun things in a safe and did we say FUN environment!

As we navigate this new journey, we are hearing the same thing over and over from our students- FRIDAY NIGHTS at Revolution are great! We kicked off the new year, in January, with Tacos and Trivia. In February, we had our first Open Mic night. The students sang their hearts out!! It was a brain teaser of a time at Game Night in March with PlayStation Virtual Reality and team building group games. Our Friday Night event in April, Open Mic/Karaoke, broke our participant record as we hosted 27 students and 10 adults. Come on ya’ll, that’s worth celebrating!  The students had an absolute blast as they sang and danced. Some were too shy to sing so they enjoyed playing pool, air hockey and foosball! In May, we were entertained by Thor Ragnarok during Movie Night. On June 14th, we will have a community service project for our Friday night event. Canvases For a Cause will be here for students to paint a canvas which will go to a child at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Because of our amazing donors, we had the honor once again to host the Senior Celebration at GIVE Center East on May 7th. This year, we hosted 27 hard-working students who joined us in celebrating their achievement of graduation.

Our programming continues to be a great success. Let’s Talk for high school girls continues to be a time of sharing on Thursday afternoons. In March, we started a program for girls at GIVE Center East called Tru Girl Club. Volunteers from Revolution went every Friday and talked topics the girls wanted to discuss. Tru Girl Talk will continue when school starts in the Fall. You can imagine our excitement when some of these girls started attending Friday Night Events. We have placed Get Fit on the back burner until we find another trainer, if you know of anyone, please feel free to reach out to Karen Carey.

This summer we will celebrate Revolution’s one-year opening (June) and 5- year anniversary as a startup nonprofit (July). Details also are forthcoming for a Summer ribbon-cutting with Hearts to Nourish Hope. Keep your eyes open for a Save the Date invite for our 5-year anniversary celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Our summer program, “Build My Best Relationship,” offered by Georgia Center for Opportunity, starts June 6. This program, geared toward dating, teaches about healthy relationships. The concepts taught can be applied to every relationship students encounter.

As always, we wouldn’t be here without the support of our faithful donors and volunteers. We have the absolute best donors and volunteers! Join us in thanking New Beginnings Fellowship! They bring warrior volunteers and sponsor our food for Friday nights. In addition, they bring an amazing group of students whom we love! They are awesome!!

Summer Wrap

We’ve had an exciting Summer so far! Would you like to see what we’ve been up to?


In June,


We welcomed our first students to the center with the opportunity to teach a challenging game of Chess!


We learned how to cultivate strong relationships, resolve conflict and how to recognize and walk away from toxic relationships in How To Avoid Falling for A Jerk or Jerkette.


Our first Friday Night event was awesome as we welcomed some of our favorite peeps who dueled with a nasty shark on PlayStation Virtual Reality.


In July,


We introduced our first GetFIT classes and are learning how to build muscle without weights! And having fun with CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO! Thank you Lori for showing us that fitness can be fun!


We beat the heat with our July Friday Night Event of Movie Night as we enjoyed watching The Greatest Showman!


Did we miss you? We will be moving from our Summer Hours to our School Hours Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30pm – 6:30pm and Wednesdays 3pm – 5pm.
